Vast Space for Everyone

We have recently moved to Copenhagen from India. If all goes well, we will be in Copenhagen for about a year. We want to utilize our Schengen visa to the fullest, visiting all of the Europe. Denmark might not be as famous as Italy or France, but we consider ourselves lucky to have known Denmark and the Danes. Copenhagen is a beautiful city with well connected transport system and easy accessibility.

Before talking about the well-known attractions like the museums, the canal tours, the Stroget or the Little Mermaid, I want to show you the beautiful, lesser known Valby Park, a park around the neighborhood where we live. There is no entry fee for the park.

Valby Park is the largest park in Copenhagen. It has 17 themed gardens, a big natural ground and a jogger's track all the way up to the Kalvebod beach. It is well known for hosting many of the concerts and major events.
It is especially popular among the joggers and the families spending summers outdoor. During summer, you could spot many families enjoying barbecues in the Park. It is easily accessible from Central Station. There is a bus stop right at its doorstep. Plan to spend at least half a day to have a relaxing time.

The Joggers Track

The joggers track with the neatly arranged trees on both sides looks impressive even before entering the Park. There is a small duck pond with friendly ducks. They prove to be photogenic models without much effort. The benches are handy if you want to enjoy the ducks! Feeding the ducks were allowed until a month back; It is now forbidden due to the pollution of water. If you're lucky, you may spot the regular seagulls.

The Park is famous for the various themed gardens. The most beautiful and romantic of all is the Rosen Haven (Rose Garden). There are many varieties of roses in all imaginable shapes, sizes, colors and fragrances (yes the fragrances). The full bloom during summer is not be missed. Also, note the curious names of each variety here. A sumptuous visual treat is guaranteed — the satisfaction for your olfactory senses is a bonus.

There is a Dahlia Garden, full of different colored dahlias. I have never seen such big dahlias in my life. There are many other gardens: notable ones are herb garden and kids garden. The kids garden has a pond, a heart shaped area with roses and two mushroom heads, painted as a boy and a girl.

The joggers track will lead you all the way up to the backwaters. The best thing to do is to find a spot there and sink in the view.
